The City of Orlando is located in Central Florida, amid many lakes and wetlands. It is about one hour southwest of Daytona Beach and 90 minutes northeast of Tampa. The climate is typically hot and humid, with two general seasons. There is a wet, rainy season that lasts from May through September, and a drier, warm season from October through April. Summer months see average daytime highs in the 90s, while average highs during winter days are still often in the mid-70s.

Orlando is known best for its tourism, largely due to Walt Disney World Resort. Both active adults and their visiting families can enjoy frequent trips to this world-famous theme park without ever running out of things to do. Several other theme parks also make Orlando a resort paradise. SeaWorld Orlando is the perfect place for animal lovers, and it also features its own amusement park. Universal Orlando has something for everyone, including its original Universal Studios and the newer Islands of Adventure, which may be best known for its Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Beyond theme parks, the Orlando area also offers more traditional urban attractions. Culture offerings include several performing arts companies, such as Orlando Shakespeare Theater, the Orlando Ballet and the Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts. Residents and visitors look forward to annual events as well, including the Florida Film Festival and the Orlando International Fringe Theater Festival.

Solivita offers Tuscan-themed elegance for active adult living in the heart of Central Florida.

Local golfers can enjoy the challenging courses offered at various resorts or throughout the metropolitan area. Several active adult communities in the area, such as Solivita or Del Webb Orlando have their own on-site golf facilities. Of course, Orlando’s most famous golf course, Bay Hill Club and Lodge, is known for hosting the annual Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Active adults who decide to live in the Orlando area can choose from both age-restricted and age-targeted communities. Either option provides resort-style amenities, low-maintenance homes and a prime location surrounded by exciting attractions, diverse retail centers and fabulous healthcare facilities.

Many of the area’s happy retirees were frequent visitors before deciding to turn their ideal vacation into a year-round lifestyle. If Orlando sounds like your dream retirement, plan an extended visit to experience the magic for yourself.
